Yee Wan Named CABE
Administrator of the Year
SAN JOSE, CA - Yee Wan, Yee Wan, coordinator of
Multilingual
Programs at the Santa Clara County Office of Education, has been
named Administrator of the Year for the 2010 annual conference of the California
Association for Bilingual Education.
Her recognition will take place at the organization's Educator of the Year
Awards luncheon on March 7 at the San Jose Convention Center.
"This is a wonderful honor for Yee, who is an incredible resource and role model for
supporting multilingual programs. Her leadership and advocacy for English language
learners have contributed significantly to the delivery of quality instruction,"
said Linda Aceves, chief academic officer at the Santa Clara County Office of Education.
At the County Office, Wan oversees a program that provides training and
resources to teachers, administrators, and paraprofessionals to support
instruction and achievement for English language learners. The program helps
teachers to obtain California Teacher of English Learners certification to teach
English learners. In addition, the unit offers the California English Language
Development Test administration training annually.
CABE is a non-profit organization that promotes bilingual education and
quality educational experiences for California's students and their diverse
cultural, racial, and linguistic backgrounds.
